Daelin Brie Tolan
7/18/08 – 11/22/19
Daelin had just turned 9 when she was diagnosed and started 4th grade.
Daelin had been involved in tumbling for a few years. It was her passion. She was always doing handstands against the walls and furniture and practicing her flips. She wanted to be in the Olympics when she grew up! She enjoyed jumping on her trampoline, swimming, and was looking forward to being a cheerleader for our football team. Daelin was the “slime queen” as many referred to her as. She didn’t have to measure a single ingredient! She also loved to draw and paint with watercolor. Daelin loved to go shopping at her favorite stores, Target and H&M. She was a little fashionista. Doing makeup and getting manis and pedis were also things she enjoyed. Daelin was very laid back and had a smile that could light up the room. She wanted everyone to be happy and feel loved. She liked telling jokes and loved to pull pranks on people. She loved to travel and dreamed of going to college in California. She was also a straight A student and maintained that all throughout her illness.
The summer of 2017 Daelin occasionally mentioned she had double vision. When school started, she was experiencing headaches and mentioned the double vision causing her problems seeing. Her eye doctor referred us to have an MRI done. On August 30, 2017 Daelin was diagnosed with DIPG. She received chemo and 2 rounds of radiation. She was a warrior and fought 27 months before earning her angel wings. Throughout it all, she continued to smile and inspire so many.
